Event Details

We are looking forward to seeing you at the 9th Annual Reindeer Run in

Boulder Creek on Wednesday, December 24th, 2025!

The Reindeer Run will happen RAIN or SHINE.

(Water will just enhance the Boulder Creek experience!)

WHERE:  The event will begin and end at Junction Park, located at 13264 Middleton Avenue, Boulder Creek.

WHEN:  There are five heats. You can participate in whichever heat you wish, but please be aware that the earlier heats will have more runners than walkers. 

  • 9:00am - Runners: This is a competitive heat, but anyone can join in

  • 9:15am - Everyone

  • 9:30am - Everyone

  • 9:45am - Everyone

  • 10:00am - Animals and their humans, and everyone

EARLY BIB PICK-UP:

  • Saturday, December 20, 10am-12pm, Junction Park, Boulder Creek

 

SIGN-IN:

  • Sign-in at Junction Park 15 minutes before your scheduled heat, so that we can ensure that everyone gets to the start line on time. 

  • Do not sign-in more than 15 minutes before your heat since we will be signing in earlier heat participants.  

  • Your friends can register on the day of the race. Please ask them to come 20 minutes early to give them enough time to register before their heat. 

  • We will provide maps and put up signs that will keep you on the course. 

EVENT ROUTE:

  • Gather on Middleton, east of Railroad. Each heat’s participants will walk together to the starting line when it is time.

  • Starting Line: Railroad Avenue (behind and south of the Boulder Creek Pizza and Pub parking lot)

  • Head south on Railroad Avenue to Forest Street

  • Turn west (right) on Forest Street to HWY 9

  • Turn north (right) on HWY 9

  • Cross HWY 9 at the crosswalk at the intersection with SR 236 by the gas station

  • Head south on HWY 9 to Mountain Street (Foster’s Freeze)

  • Cross HWY 9 at Mountain Street and head north on HWY 9 to Forest Street

  • Turn east (right) on Forest Street, continue straight on E Lomond Street, and onto Irwin Way

  • Stay on Irwin Way all the way to Camp Joy Road

  • Turn around at Camp Joy and head back on Irwin Way

  • Turn north (right) on Junction Avenue

  • Finish Line: Junction Park

SAFETY

Crossing guards will direct traffic at the two intersections where you will cross Highway 9; first at the stop sign at 236 where you cross Hwy 9 to run south through town and then at Mountain Street when you cross Hwy 9 again to run north to Forest St. On the southern end of Hwy 9 toward Mountain Street where a section of sidewalk is missing, there will be cones and barricades to keep everyone safe. Please stay within the barricade closest to the edge of the road. 

PARKING

There is street parking on Highway 9 and other streets. Please do not park on Middleton, Junction, or Railroad.

The following businesses have graciously agreed to have Reindeer Runners park cars in their lots. Listed north to south:

  • Boulder Creek Public Library, 13390 West Park Avenue

  • Schwarzbach Real Estate,13335 Central Avenue

  • USPS/Liberty Bank, 200 Lorenzo Street (Please note: only the parking spaces in the center of the parking lot and along the northern fence are available for participants. Please do not use the spaces along the post office and/or the bank building as these are strictly reserved for customers of these businesses. Please see the 2nd map that shows appropriate parking spaces for the Reindeer Run. 

  • Scopazzi’s Restaurant and Lounge, 13300 Big Basin Hwy (open for brunch at 10:30am)

  • I.O.O.F. Odd Fellows, 13101 Central Avenue

  • Los Gallos, 13070 Central Avenue (closed for the day)

  • Please contact us at bcreindeerrun@gmail.com for reserved handicap parking spaces. Please do not use any of the businesses handicapped parking spaces as these need to remain available for each business.​

COSTUMES

Costumes are very much encouraged! There will be prizes for best human and animal costumes in each heat.  â€‹

There will also be a Team Costume Contest for groups of 4 and more. There will be a great prize for the BEST TEAM COSTUME.

ANIMALS

We love seeing your animal companions. For those of you bringing animals, please make sure that you have control of your animal/s at all times and please clean up after them to make this event enjoyable for all participants and neighbors.  We will have a prize for “Most Unique Animal” in the Animal heat at 10 am. 

SWAG & MORE

Once you cross the finish line, please stop by our Swag table. We look forward to giving you your Reindeer Run memorabilia after your race. There will be a refreshment bar with mimosas and beer for runners 21+, and treats for all. Participants will also receive a coupon for a free 6 oz. coffee or hot chocolate at the Tree House Cafe (valid through 12/31). There will also be a few vendors at the event so you can do some last minute Christmas shopping!

FOOD DRIVE

The Reindeer Run is happy to announce that we will also be holding a FOOD DRIVE at both the Bib Pick-up on 12/20 and at the Reindeer Run event on 12/24. Please help us support the Valley Churches United Food Pantry by donating non-perishable food items!
